We can all help make the air cleaner and healthier to breath. What can you do to reduce air pollution and improve air quality?
Conserve Energy
Turn off lights and other electrical devices that are not in use
- Replace incandescent bulbs with LED bulbs
- Set your home furnace to a lower temperature and wear sweaters during cooler weather
- Choose energy efficient appliances
- Ensure proper home insulation and reduce energy loss through drafts
- Use “muscle powered” rather than fuel-powered machines (e.g. use rake rather than lawn blower, take the stairs instead of elevator)
- Support alternative “green” energy sources (e.g. wind, solar)
Smart Vehicle Use
Use alternate transportation (e.g. walk, bike, carpool, public transit)
- Reduce vehicle idling
- Use oxygenated gasolines (e.g. ethanol blend)
- Check tire pressure and regularly maintain your car
- Promote use of hydrogen fuel cell technology, solar powered vehicles and electrical powered vehicles
Change Buying Habits
Choose water or low-solvent based products
- Purchase products with less packaging
- Recycle and reuse
Outdoor Practices

- Avoid pesticides use
- Compost yard waste
- Reduce use of older gas-powered equipment
Industry Practices
Apply dust suppressants and use proper dust collection at source
- Support ‘emission scrubbing’ technology to neutralize emissions
- Utilize modern farming practices
